Can You Layer Different Good Science Beauty Creams?

If you have several different skin concerns, you might be wondering if you can layer different Good Science Beauty Creams?

The simple answer is yes! With a light-weight formula and fast absorption, these creams layer very well and you can use as many as you want at a time.

There are four Good Science Beauty Face Creams available.

There is the 001- Pu Purifying Face Cream for acne prone skin and blemishes, the 003-Hy Hydrating Face Cream for dry and aging skin, the 004-Br Brightening Skin Cream for hyperpigmentation, and the 005-Fi Skin Firming Cream for aging skin. Each face cream moisturizes your skin well, but also treats specific skin concerns.

There are a few things to know about layering skincare products to protect your skin, but also get the most out of your products.

What Order Should You Apply Products?

Research shows that having a basic skincare routine significantly improves hydration, wrinkles, and pigment. The order of application is also important. Here is a basic outline of how to use your skincare.

Step One:

The first step in layering skincare products is making sure you start with clean skin. This is a fundamental step, but it will prepare your skin to absorb products properly. Cleansing requires a balance between skin hygiene and stratum corneum barrier damage. Always start with a gentle facial cleanser to make sure your skin is free from any makeup, dirt, or products from the night before.

Step Two:

If you use a toner, this is always the second step. Toner can further remove any lasting debris on your skin the cleanser didn’t remove. However, toner is not a necessary step in your routine. Historically, toner was used to help remove residue leftover from lye-based soaps. Toner was typically an alcohol based solution which would remove the remnants of lye on the skin. In modern times, toner can be used for additional skin cleaning or it can just be a solution that prepares the skin for serums.

Step Three:

After toner, your next step is applying serums if you use them.  Most serums are water-based solutions used to treat specific skincare concerns. Vitamin C serums, hyaluronic acid, or retinols are common serums and usually water-based. If you look at the ingredient list, you can see what the base is by looking at the first ingredient.

When you start with water-based solutions, you will maximize your product absorption.

The great news about Good Science Beauty Face Creams is they are also water-based (between 75% and 80% water) and formulated like serums, so they are very light-weight.  This means you don’t necessarily need to use a serum when you use a Good Science Beauty cream. Due to their formulation, you are treating skincare concerns and moisturizing at the same time.

You can apply a serum if you want to treat extra skin concerns, but with the Good Science Beauty texture and formulation, this is an optional step. A basic rule of thumb for serums and face creams is to apply from thin to thick. This goes back to the basic oil and water science experiment. If all your products are water-based, then you will focus on texture. This is why the Good Science Beauty Face Creams will still need to be applied after a serum if you are using one. Or skip the serum and go right into your Good Science Beauty creams after cleansing and toning.

Step Four:

Whether  you use a serum or not, now it is time to apply your Good Science Beauty Face Cream. For best efficacy, always apply the face creams twice a day, in the morning and evenings. This helps you achieve the best results, especially for skin concerns like hyperpigmentation.

Due to how quickly GSB creams absorb, you can layer as many creams as you would like in any order. Since each cream has the same base and texture, the order you apply them won’t matter.

Step Five:

After applying Good Science Beauty Face Creams, you can follow up with a facial oil, or you can use the Good Science Beauty Hydrating Facial a few nights a week.

Here are some more tips on layering Good Science Beauty Creams:

Apply Good Science Beauty Creams One At A Time

You can layer Good Science Beauty Creams one at a time. Apply the creams all over the face, allowing each cream time to dry in between applications. Since these creams absorb quickly, it doesn’t take much time for them to dry.

For instance, if you want to treat wrinkles, hydrate and firm your skin, you can use the 003-Hy Hydrating Face Cream all over your face. In trials, this cream reduced fine lines and wrinkles by up to 94% in 28 days, due to the way the formulation plumps the skin, while also providing long lasting hydration.  After using this cream which absorbs almost instantly, you can follow up with the 005-Fi Skin Firming Cream, which promotes skin elasticity and even skin tone.

You can easily layer any Good Science Beauty Creams in this way using as many of the creams as you would like.

Or you can try a spot treatment method.

Spot Treatments To Get Additional Benefits

This is a good method to try if you have certain areas of your face with a skin concern, but it doesn't impact the entire surface. In a first step, you treat the skin concerns, and then follow up with other creams for the entire face.

For example, if you have some hyperpigmentation on a few areas of your face, you can use the 004-Br Skin Brightening Cream on those specific areas with the hyperpigmentation. Then, you can use another cream for the entire face like the 005-Fi Skin Firming Cream and/or the 003-Hy Hydrating Face Cream.

If you have blemishes on certain parts of your face,  you can use this method for the 001-Pu Purifying Face Cream. Dab this cream on the blemishes or blemish prone area. Then follow up with another cream all over your face.

Rotate The Face Creams

Another thing to keep in mind is you can also rotate your Good Science Beauty Face Creams. If your skin tends to get very dry in the winter months, use the hydrating face cream in winter. Then, switch to another cream at different times of the year.

Keep Your Skincare Routine Simple

When you use good quality skincare products, you can simplify your routine. In fact, many dermatologists say less is more when it comes to skincare products. This is why using good quality skincare is so important.

Since Good Science Beauty products are formulated with Good Silicon+® that is designed to make skincare ingredients more effective, you can treat multiple skin concerns without using a lot of products.

Another thing to keep in mind with layering skincare products is that absorption can be tricky to achieve. That’s where the lipids in Good Silicon+ come in! Hydrophilic (= water loving) ingredients like L-Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) or Hyaluronic Acid struggle to cross the stratum corneum via the skin's lipid matrix. The lipids in Good Silicon+ wrap hydrophilic molecules in fat, which facilitates their absorption through the lipid matrix.

So, whether you use one or several Good Science Beauty products, you are getting more effective ingredients that work! This makes it easy to simplify your routine and make sure you are treating skin concerns properly.
